Monopoly Bid: Card Game Mechanics
Objective
The primary aim is to acquire three complete property sets to win.
Components
- Property Cards: Represent properties, railroads, and utilities found in traditional Monopoly. Each set has a specific color or designation.
- Money Cards: Used for bidding and purchasing. Varying denominations are available.
- Action Cards: Offer various advantages, such as stealing properties, drawing extra cards, or influencing bids. Examples include Steal Property, Wild Property, Rent cards, and Just Say No cards.
- Bid Cards: Employed during property auctions.
Gameplay
Setup
Each participant receives a starting hand of money cards and five cards from the draw pile.
Turns
A turn involves drawing cards and either playing action cards or initiating an auction.
Auctions
Auctions are central to acquiring properties. When a player chooses to auction, they play a property card to the center of the table.
Bidding
Players simultaneously submit bids using their money cards and bid cards. Once all bids are revealed, the highest bidder wins the property and pays their bid amount. Unsuccessful bidders retrieve their money. Bid cards can influence the bidding process.
Action Cards
Action cards are used strategically to gain advantages. They can be played at various points during the game, depending on the card's effect.
Property Sets
Players collect properties, aiming to complete sets of the same color (or utility/railroad group). Some action cards can assist in completing property sets or hindering opponents.
"Just Say No" Cards
These cards can negate the effect of an action card played against the user. Strategic use is vital.
Stealing
Some action cards permit the theft of properties from opponents, increasing chances of completing sets.
Winning
The first participant to accumulate three complete property sets is declared the winner.
